Griffin Arena was built on land generously donated by John and Jan Watson to Emmet County. It was named Griffin Arena by the Watsons in honor of Teddy Griffin, a local restauranteur and long-time hockey enthusiast.
2005 and 2006 have brought major changes to the original structure. The Air-Dome was removed to make way for a block and steel structure, two locker rooms have been renovated and enlarged. There has also been a new locker room added to house the Petoskey Northman High School Hockey Team.
Griffin Arena welcomes Scott Miller, and Ryan Miller from St.Clair Shores MI who will operate the pro-shop and concession area.
